Malesh Narredu will look for an opportunity for Golden Heart over a shorter distance after the the Kingsmoor filly finished third in the Ferrari Plate over 2,000 metres at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on Sunday.
As soon as the gates opened, jockey Yash Narredu steered Golden Heart quickly into second behind eventual winner Chicago Chimes.
Yash Narredu had a good spot on the rail behind the leader but had to contend with Willy Wonkaa vying for second on his outside for much of the race.
As they turned in to the home straight jockey David Allan applied the pressure aboard Chicago Times, who responded well and stretched his rivals for every ounce of energy they had.
The pair drew five lengths clear of Royal Champ, who had slipped up the inner under Anthony Raj, and Golden Heart suddenly had a fight on her hands for second spot.
With 200 metres to go, Royal Champ had beaten off Golden Heart, who stayed on well for third, with Chicago Times keeping up momentum to cross the line in first place.
“Golden Heart ran a good race – we came third,” Malesh Narredu told Kingsmoor.com
“Yash felt that a little shorter would be better for her – seven furlongs or a mile.
“She has come back okay – she had no problems.
“We will out a plan in place for her and we’ll get back to you on that.”
Malesh Narredu also had an update on stablemate Quicker, the sprinter part-owned by Kingsmoor who was last seen when tailed off in the Suraiya & Masoom Master Cup over 1,200 metres in Pune on September 21.
“He is back in work, and is ready to run. We look forward to seeing him racing.”
