Legendary Indian trainer Pesi Shroff is hoping for a big run from Red Bishop in the rescheduled Group 3 Y Shanker Rao Memorial Deccan Colts Championship Stakes at Hyderabad Racecourse on Monday.
Red Bishop is one of India’s most exciting horses and is part owned by Kingsmoor World, the lifestyle and ownership experience club.
Red Bishop was last seen on a racecourse when narrowly losing out on third place by a nose in the prestigious Group 1 Zavray S Poonawalla Bangalore Summer Derby in mid-July.
“Red Bishop is scheduled to go to Hyderabad to run the Colts Trial,” Shroff told Kingsmoor. “He has worked well and will run a good race.”
Red Bishop has been having a break at the farm he was born on and returns to the racecourse for the mile contest looking fantastic. He will be ridden by Trevor Patel, the champion of the summer meeting at Bangalore.
The Y Shanker Rao Memorial Deccan Colts Championship Stakes will be a drop down in class for Red Bishop – top-class races are ranked from Group 1 down to Group 3, and the extra day is due to a lack of runners in some of the races that were to be staged on Sunday.
As a result, five races will be staged on Monday.
