Top jockey Saffie Osbourne has given Sparksmith a ringing endorsement as he approaches his first run.
Osbourne, one of Britain’s leading female jockeys, gave Sparksmith a spin out of James Ferguson’s Newmarket base.
The two-year-old colt can boast Royal Ascot winner Hello Youmzain as his father and Gem Cutter, a sprinter, as his mother.
“I rode the Hello Youmzain colt this morning,” Osbourne told Kingsmoor.
“It was a really nice piece of work. He sat last of three stablemates. He came up through the middle of them to ensure he was learning plenty.
“He has such a beautiful attitude and relaxes really well.
“He quickened up really well when I asked him to.
“He came off like he hadn’t done anything – a really nice piece of work and hopefully he is on the track soon.”
Sparksmith has subsequently been off trackwork for a few days but will return to work this week ahead of his racecourse debut.
